Mandarin Cafe Char Koay Kak
Post by Chiefeater William WL Loo
I have always maintained that when it comes to char koay kak the ladies do it better. As today is the climax of Nine Emperor God's festival, my #1 and 2 choices (also by ladies) are not open. This is fried with duck egg at Mandarin Cafe with lots of 'chaipor' and has a more intense taste than the other 2. Excellent nevertheless considering that I don't like the JB /Singapore much sweeter version made with turnip cakes. This Penang version uses rice cake and is savoury. For breakfast I do not crave sweet food or dessert.
