Chicken Chop
Shiok Kopitiam gave me a bit of a shock on this return visit. I went back to their old premises only to find a Mr DIY in its place, before realising they had simply relocated to another shop at the other end of the same road. The good news is that Shiok is very much still around, and from the look of things, the move may actually have worked in their favour.

The new premises seemed to have brought in even more diners. There was a reassuring sense of bustle about the place, which is usually a good sign for a kopitiam that has managed to keep its regulars while still drawing a crowd.
The black pepper chicken chop is still as good as I remembered. That remains the reason to come back. The fried chicken had a satisfying crunch, while the black pepper sauce brought enough punch to keep the dish lively without completely drowning it. It still has that familiar, comforting appeal that made it a dependable order in the first place.

On the side, the fries and salad did what they needed to do, giving the plate a fuller, old-school café feel. This is not a chicken chop trying to be modern or refined. It just stays in its lane and delivers the sort of hearty satisfaction people expect from Shiok.
One thing worth noting is the white kopi. It is quite kaw, so if that is your style, this will likely please you. If you prefer something lighter, it is probably better to know that going in. Either way, it fits the kopitiam setting well and adds to that classic local café experience.
Overall, it was good to see that Shiok Kopitiam is still doing well after the move. The black pepper chicken chop remains a solid reason to return, and the stronger crowd suggests plenty of others are happy they are still here too.
Caribbean Chicken Chop – RM22.90
White Coffee (Iced) – RM5.70
MVX Score: 8.0/10
M – Meal Value
At RM111.85 for three people with mains and drinks, the meal still feels fair for what Shiok is serving. The chicken chop remains the anchor of the value here, especially because it still delivers the kind of satisfaction people return for.
Score: 8.0/10
V – Venue & Vibes
The new premises seem to be doing well, and the fuller crowd gives the place a healthy sense of momentum. It still feels like a dependable local café, only now with a bit more energy around it.
Score: 8.0/10
X – X-Factor
The X-factor is that the black pepper chicken chop has stayed reliably good even after the move. That continuity matters.
Score: 8.2/10
