Hakka Mee, Street Food
The five-foot base of the old shop in Pudu, turns out to have this bowl of noodles!
Sometimes, finding delicious food doesn’t require going to a big restaurant, but rather walking down the old street and seeing an auntie sitting alone, boiling noodles and making noodles, is the most flavorful way to live. This time, I discovered Sister Qing Hakka Noodles in Pudu.
The auntie has been selling this bowl of noodles for decades, simple and straightforward, with no big selection, just focusing on making her own Daipu noodles, and also with plum and sweet water.
All the ingredients are prepared by the auntie herself early in the morning, with minced meat, pork chop, Taiwanese sausage, spring rolls, and fried dumplings… a bowl of noodles on the table, full of ingredients, and it tastes especially like the old flavor.
The most important thing to not miss is of course the auntie’s homemade chili powder🌶️!
It looks like there’s nothing, but when you mix it in, wow… it’s spicy and stimulating, and the more you eat, the more your appetite is stimulated!😂
If it’s really too spicy to handle, don’t worry, just have a cup of plum and sweet water, sweet and sour, and it will immediately save your mouth!
The most interesting thing is, after the noodles are cooked, we just sit directly on the steps of the five-foot base to eat.
No air conditioning, no fancy decorations, just the old shop and the daily life of the neighbors, but it’s this kind of environment that makes the food especially memorable.
Sister Qing has been selling for decades.
Before MCO, she was selling mixed snow and big pot noodles at ICC Food Court; later, because the food court was closed, she returned to Five Foot Base in Semenyih to continue selling.
One person, one table, one pot of hot water, persisting in continuing to make the taste of decades.
Such old flavors, really should be cherished while they can still be enjoyed. ❤️
