TAAL Authentic Cuisine Chicken Parrota
Post by Chiefeater Paula Tan
Dinner at Taal in the heart of Little India last night. My stuffed chicken parrota & watermelon lassi deserve a special mention - they were so good. Richard's dry chicken curry was above average & the mushroom masala was packed with mushrooms. The tosai, however, was small, thin & unsatisfying.
What is a Parotta
A chicken parotta, also known as chicken paratha, is a popular dish in Indian and South Asian cuisine. It combines two elements: chicken curry and parotta.
Parotta is a layered flatbread made from maida (all-purpose flour), oil, and water. The dough is typically stretched, folded, and then rolled out into thin layers before being cooked on a griddle with oil or ghee (clarified butter). This results in a flaky and slightly crispy bread.
Chicken curry, on the other hand, is a spiced gravy or sauce made with chicken, onions, tomatoes, and a variety of aromatic spices such as cumin, coriander, turmeric, and garam masala. The chicken is usually cooked until tender in the flavourful curry sauce.
