Tacos
Taco Del Sol was our second stop for the night.

Jen and I shared a set of beef tacos while I had an Irish Stout from Pasteur Street Brewing Co.

The tacos themselves were tasty. The beef had good flavour and worked well with the pico de gallo, jalapeños and guacamole, but I felt the amount of beef on each taco was rather restrained. A little more meat would have made these much more satisfying.
What really stood out instead was the salsa served alongside them. We loved that.

It had enough acidity and heat to brighten up the tacos and became the condiment I kept going back to. A good salsa should not simply make a taco hotter. It should provide acidity, freshness and another layer of flavour, and this one did exactly that.
The stout was alright. At VND99,000, I certainly couldn’t complain about the price of a craft stout in central Ho Chi Minh City. But given the choice purely on taste, I would still stick to Guinness.

Still, beef tacos, good salsa and a stout made this a pleasant second stop for the evening.
Beef Tacos – VND179,000
Irish Stout – VND99,000
Subtotal – VND278,000
Service Charge (5%) – VND13,900
Total: VND291,900
Average per pax: VND145,950
MVX Score: 7.5/10
M – Meal Value
VND145,950 per person for tacos and a craft stout was reasonable for central Ho Chi Minh City. The tacos would have represented better value with a more generous amount of beef.
Score: 7.5/10
V – Venue
Taco Del Sol sits within the same Lý Tự Trọng building as Pasteur Street Brewing, making it an easy place to combine Mexican food with local craft beer.
Score: 8.0/10
X – X-Factor
The salsa was the standout. It brought the acidity and brightness that the tacos needed and ended up being the part of the set we enjoyed most.
Score: 7.5/10
