Say Seng Tau Kwa Pau
Street Food
Chiefeater Luke Soon had the famous Tau Kwa Pau from Say Seng at Dunman Food Centre

Hiokkien Mee
Everyone’s been to The Ming Room. It’s a BSC hallmark. They’ve relocated (must be many moons ago) to the third floor – but this is my first visit back since. Their dim sum is consistently above average over the decades, but it’s their special cooked dishes that usually catch my eye. Previously, the last decade or so- it was their freshwater prawn soup noodles.
And more recently, it’s the fried Hokkien mee. 7/10
Look at the pomace of pork lard cubes on top!
Ming Room never disappoints.
Back to my Nasi Lemak bungkus vs Village Park analogy; this Hokkien mee at The Ming Room is definitely smoky and luxurious. Not your coffeeshop charcoal offering – which is equally satisfying in a different way. As far as high-end Hokkien mee’s go, this is one of the better ones in town. I recall even Artistry (Guinness), and other Chinese restaurant chains offer Hokkien mee.
