Do you know Towzen Kuala Lumpur has landed in KL on 8 January? Tow who!? Towzen Vegan Ramen from Kyoto lah! A new day, a new restaurant, ma. You know how Malaysians love to eat and how blessed we are to be living in this country.
Came across this random food review in one of the online publication this week so we made a beeline to it for Sunday lunch. It's a good thing we booked as the restaurant filled up very quickly upon opening and a queue materialised not long after.
Minoru Yonekawa opened Towzen two decades ago, using soy milk to create a meat free bowl that mimics the richness of tonkotsu ramen. KL is its first overseas outlet. We started with a variety of popular appetizers - Goma Tofu, Karaage Lion Mane Mushroom, Pressed Sushi that mimics unagi, using brinjal and cute gyozas. For the mains, we each chose a Miso & Gac ramen, Shoyu Udon and Tofu Katsu Curry Rice.

We ended the meal with green tea ice cream. As it is eggless, the deep matcha taste is very distinct.

All in, it was an impressive experience and we will be back to try other soup base and the rice dishes.
The orders came fast although there's room to be improved on the service. Bowls either were cleared when others haven't finished or left on the table too long. And serving time could be better coordinated. I put this down to minor teething problem.
Enjoy a 10% off from your bill from now till 31 Jan. Best to make a reservation as the place only seats 30+ pax.
