These savoury grilled chicken wings at Restoran Soon Sing are among my better finds in Pusat Bandar Puchong, especially once the charcoal fire gets going

Indian, Pork-Free
An impromptu Saturday lunch date with hubby at Veranda, one of the best (to me) South Indian restaurant! What an immersion of senses, savouring Chettinad’s robust spices and getting your tastebuds titillated with every bite.
A chance conversation with a friend this morning included “What are you up to this weekend? What’s for lunch?” She told me she is going to Veranda with some friends because it is really nice. Curiosity got the better of me and I looked it up. Called to book and was told to walk in as reservation allocation is full. We legged it to Bangsar and found Veranda South On A Platter without any difficulty. The restaurant was filling up and the atmosphere was lively with customers happily tucking into their meal. The place is designed to represent Indian homes.

We over-ordered as usual! A cauliflower starter for hubby, chicken nugget deep fried with curry leaves, coriander, mint leaves, green chilli, ginger and garlic for moi. He ordered 3 different vegatarian dishes – spinach cooked with lentils, smashed potato and brinjal in tamarind based sauce. I selected one of the chef’s special Ghee Roast Prawns. All eaten with a choice of steam rice or plain briyani. Aiyoyo…….we ended up having to tapau leftovers.
Cauliflower 65

Chicken nugget

Spinach & lentil

Brinjal in tamarind based sauce

Smashed potato

Ghee roast prawns

Too much nasi!

All this for two pax

Masala tea to end the meal

What a scrumptious meal it was. We literally rolled out of the restaurant into the blistering heat of the arvo. Will we be back? A resounding YES, with more friends! More mouths, more dishes to sample.
Oh! There is thali sets available on weekdays from RM20 onwards. That will be my next aim!
