Viva Victoria Banana Leaf Rice
Post by Chiefeater Peter Yeoh
Viva Victoria is the only place in town where I can get a South Indian banana leaf meal where every dish was served freshly-cooked and piping hot.
The kitchen is helmed by fussy Tamilian matriarch, Madam Mogana, who churned out a steady stream of dishes with those elusive home-cooked flavours.
Besides their banana leaf set meal, we tried their new one-dish lunch offerings like tandoori chicken, fish tikka and chicken tikka, each served with chapati.
The Bengali "kathi roll" was a standout for us - sliced mutton with vegetables, slathered with a sour-spicy-sweet sauce and rolled up in a chapati.
Mutton varuval.
Fried tilapia.
Chicken curry.
Rose syrup.
Sago Gula Melaka.
