Pak Hailam Kopitiam Taman Midah Local Fare
Malaysian, Pork-Free

Pasta, Pork-Free
My encounter with Lou Lou James was destined because of work, therefore the food I tasted was from their special event menu and not from their ala carte menu.
I had;-
Truffle Mushroom Bruschetta
I had one and went back for another 2. If it's not because I'm such a lady, I would have gone for another 5. The scent of truffle still lingers on the roof of my mouth as I'm typing this.
Tomato Basil Linguini
Basic done right at Lou Lou James. And when they say basil, they meant BASIL. There are cuts of fresh basil in the sauce, basil garnish on top and a small bowl of basil oil/pesto(?) on the side. Work calls, I didn't get the chance to confirm nor deny what the glistening green oil/sauce/dressing was. There's also a small bowl of grated parmesan on the side, we love a generous and understanding host.
If I were to order this personally, I would ask for al dente. By no means was the pasta overcooked or mushy, it hits just right by local preference
Cauliflower Soup
Non-memorable. I think I finished mine. It's alright.
Roast Chicken
It was juicy but I didn't get any flavour. To be fair, I took a skinless chicken breast, soooo, the blame is probably on me. Apparently, there's also a mustard sauce that I missed. I'll do justice to my palate better next time.
I glanced over to a walk-in customer table next to me, and I saw they ordered Veal Wellington. On the menu, it was listed at RM128. As they cut it open, a beautiful red juicy meat was revealed. The portion looks reasonable as well. It looks like it's done right, again. Maybe one day I'll swing over and try that.
Price
Prepare about RM70 per pax for a normal dinner at Lou Lou James. If it's a special night, your bill can come up to RM150-RM200 per pax. I saw they have a special lunch menu for under RM20.
Environment
Classy. It's the end of November, and you'll be greeted by a white Christmas tree as you walk in. Downstairs is good for proper dinner and upstairs has a bar feel with low seats.
TLDR; basic food done right. Price ok la for a special night
