Japanese Fusion, Fine Dining, Pork-Free
Went to Calia Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, a Japanese fusion restaurant at Pavillion KL, to celebrate my son birthday. It was discovered by my daughter on social media. The ambience is chill and relax. The chef is a michellin star winner so we were curious how the food going to taste like.
We were all pleasantly surprised by the potato fries, a most humble of dish which was very very umami good. We couldn’t stop digging into it the whole session until it ran out. Haven’t tasted such a flavourful french fries before.
Read that their nasi lemak is good so I ordered to discover for myself. It too surprises us with how refine and tasty the sambal is. It is not too sweet or spicy and have very rich and fresh shrimp taste to it, blended very well with the just nicely santan rice and balance the boneless fried chicken very well. We order extra rice which were glad that they do that.
The smoke salmon pack a nice wood chip fragrance when the cover was lifted which was refreshing. Cavicia is refine however would have prefer both this and the salmon slice to be thicker as you don’t taste much bitting into it, perhaps it is in line with fine dining experience to keep it finely slice.
Another dish that is we like much is the humble looking truffle chicken sausage. The taste of truffles and the protein blend very well and comforting to eat.
The pot of chamomile tea remains refreshing throughout few refills.
Other dishes
The sobai in the strawberry cake is refreshingly good and balance the cake up.
The cheese cake is dense and will satisfy cheese cake lover.
Should we go back again the umami potato fries, truffles chicken sausage and nasi lemak umbori with a pot of chamomile tea will be our pick again.
It is a popular choice for birthday celebration considering four person’s birthday were celebrated there include my son on a weekday night.
