Roast Duck, Chee Cheong Fun, Non-Halal
A friend recently shared a video about the famous Chee Cheong Fun (Rice Roll) from Restaurant King at Batu 14 Puchong recently and since I was nearby I decided to visit it. The restaurant is located within a house in the Puchong New Village, so don't go looking for a shoplot.
The Chee Cheong Fun starts at RM10 for a char siew or roast duck cheong fun. My son had the roast duck Chee Cheong Fun (RM10), my wife had the char siew rice (RM10) and I had a roast duck thigh (RM22). The char siew was nothing to shout about but the roast duck really stood out. The duck meat was tender and warm while the skin was still crisp when it was served. We saw the workers at Restaurant King taking out roast duck by twos, so they don't roast all their ducks at one go keeping it fresh and warm.
The non-mention of the chee cheong fun at Restaurant King doesn't mean it was bad. It is a Guangdong styled chee cheong fun which thicker and coarser in texture. It was well seasoned by the duck sauce that doused it, so it tasted good. I just don't particularly like the texture, as my preference skews towards the ones that would slide down my throat.
