Pondering where I should have lunch in USJ, I opted for a quieter section of this neighbourhood., That’s how I came to dine at Ru Yuan Xuan Kopitiam, a modern-style kopitiam that promised a unique dining experience.
I ordered the dry pan mee with smoked duck breast (RM15.90) because it’s not often that I see this option on a menu of a kopitiam. The noodles, well-seasoned and boasted a delightful bite. The dry pan mee, adorned with succulent smoked duck breast, offered a harmonious blend of savoury elements. The smoked duck, in particular, stood out with its lovely flavour profile, adding a layer of sophistication to the dish.
However, the culinary journey took an unexpected turn with the fried banana (RM5), resembling more of a “cheen tui” in texture. It had commendable taste but not a texture that I enjoyed for a banana fritter.
The Iced Kopi was decent too. (RM4.50)
