Open the cabinet, this is what the owner ask me with cheeky smile. Obviously “ada udang sebalik batu”, it is actually the door to the toilet.

Indeed it is a very unique cafe in Alor Setar. Unique not only the decor but also the dishes.
The cafe owned by Shubani, this the name is Kedai Kopi Chubani, together with his wife, son and his daughter in law. Very friendly family.

The decor is very traditional with modern touch. Old wood cabinet with mosaic flooring.

The food is very special too. Pulut Ikan Kering Nyok, literally means glutinous rice with salted fish and shredded coconut. It is savory dish and sweet at the same time. Very contrasting. The strong salted fish flavour somehow goes so well with sweet glutinous rice and coconut. A dish must come back for. The Penghat Sambal Ikan Bilis Nyor, Malay pancake with sambal ikan bilis and coconut is another local food you can only find here in the North Malaysia.
The thick toast is OK fore but I will order garlic toast next time.

The local Kopi Hancur is very aromatic. Great local coffee.

We only had the breakfast, will come back to try thier lunch soon. It is worth your trip to come here if you happen to be in Alor Setar.
