Spaghetti Aglio Olio, Pork-Free
Returning to Jam and Kaya Cafe after a long absence, I was greeted by a surprising queue for lunch. Clearly, the word has spread about this charming spot, and rightfully so – their food is delightful. Opting for my usual, the Spaghetti Aglio Olio (RM19.70), I was reminded why I fell in love with it in the first place.
Jam & Kaya was one of the first places in PJ where I found the use of fresh pasta and spaghetti cooked al dente several years ago, and I’m pleased to report that their standards remain high. You can choose between spicy and non-spicy options; I prefer mine with a kick. The aglio olio didn’t disappoint, retaining its quality and flavour.

Rounded off my meal with a flat white (RM10.90).

However, the bustling atmosphere of the packed restaurant might not be to everyone’s taste. It was quite noisy, which could be off-putting for those seeking a quieter dining experience. Nevertheless, if you can overlook the noise, you’ll be rewarded with one of PJ’s best plates of spaghetti. It’s no wonder Jam and Kaya Cafe continues to draw crowds – their food speaks for itself.

Do NOT park illegally. Park within the multi storey parking lot or designated street parking lots. The council’s officers are very active in this area. Don’t say I didn’t say.
