Chicken Rice, Non-Halal
When I first landed in Singapore, the first area I frequented was Killiney Road, in Somerset. Home to the famous Killiney Kopitiam and KPO (Killiney Post Office – IYKYK) – this nostalgic lane has seen many eateries come and go in the last 2 decades. Jew Kit Killiney Roadd, a chicken rice specialist burst onto the scene about a decade ago, and there’s no turning back since. Over the years, Jew Kit has opened outlets all over the island – at Bukit Timah Shopping Centre, Bukit Batok and Killiney Road of course. I was a little surprised that despite having several outlets, Jew Kit has very little social media presence.
Jewkit only does steamed/white chicken, there’s no roasted version. I actually prefer the steamed version, which was the OG version when the Hainanese set foot on ASEAN shores.
By no means cheap for a chicken rice but you won’t be disappointed for sure. Silky moist chicken and well cooked rice with a good flavour. The homemade chilli is one of the best I have had with a spicy kick. Chicken skin was perfect and jellyish – to me, beats even the Boon Tong Kee on Balestier Road. BTK is the OG of chicken rice I’m sure everyone knows.
Go for their set meals which includes a dumpling soup with a nice broth.

Total damage SGD50 for 2 pax, 2 sets of chicken and side plates of kailan, sambal kangkong and fried pork. This weighs in at a very consistent 7/10 over the years, every time
