There seems to be no stopping for Surrey Hills Grocer Holland Village. It has opened a new café outlet at One Holland Village offering an Australian gourmet experience in a pet-friendly setting.
Surrey Hills Grocer unfolds its charm in a sprawling 4,000 sq ft space, pretty cosy with its farmhouse-chic ambiance. Prices might give some pause though. It’s the impression of most - that pet friendly cafes serve more ambience than quality (for humans). But that’s not the case with Surrey Hills.
At the heart of Surrey Hills’ culinary offerings is a tapas menu curated by the iconic Melbourne restaurant, MoVida. Known for its inventive take on Spanish cuisine, MoVida brings a slice of Melbourne’s vibrant food scene to Singapore. Surrey Hills Grocer at One Holland Village certainly impresses with its inviting ambiance, diverse menu, and quality offerings.
While items lean towards the pricier side, the experience it offers – from pet-friendly dining to a taste of Melbourne’s MoVida tapas – makes it a noteworthy for those seeking to indulge in a little gastronomic adventure.
We brought our youngest (furry) out for dinner - so it’s 3+1 - to Surrey Hills. The grilled squid in sambal was 7/10. I found it slightly spicier than usual. Coming from an Aussie grocer it was a surprise indeed!
The prawn pesto spaghetti was a close #2. 7/10
The winner was the Tooheys fish & chips on pancakes. This was 7.5/10
Having attempted both dishes several (ok, a few hundred) times - one has to appreciate the subtleties brought up by the chef.
The drinks - wine & cocktails are extensive as well, especially if you like Aussie offerings. I had the kyoho cocktail veering from my usual wine - not bad.
Total $172 for 3 pax, 3 mains and 2 cocktails. Overall, Surrey Hills Grocer Holland Village is a 7/10.
It's another brilliant addition to the pet friendly cafes scene in the already category defining One Holland Village.
