Back in the heydays of Fong Seng PJ New Town, everyone flocked there for the char kway teow manned by a friendly man known popularly as Fei Loh. As you waited for your char kway teow, one would order wantan mee or curry mee from the stalls that also operated in the busy coffee shop.
This kopitiam is located near where Vui’s (Kam Heong) is, there used to be 2 other kopitiam originals that we’ve been frequenting for the past 3 decades. Alas, one of them has closed down – they used to sell good pork noodles, leaving Fong Seng PJ New Town as the other viable alternative to Kam Heong in the MPPJ building area. This place is the secondary coffeeshop to Kam Heong over the past few decades – but today it’s #1 in our minds.
We didn’t come for the curry mee or ckt today, but for the pan mee and chicken rice.
These were the sleeper dishes that filled our tables of old; might sound gluttonish but everyone had their ‘main’ fare and hedged on a ‘secondary’ dishes in the ‘middle’ to share
Well, the chicken rice and pan mee were usually the ‘shared’ dishes in the middle – but today we sought comfort KL food.
The pork noodles was also ok at 6/10 – and in KL I usually go with the yee meen option. The soup base for this pork noodle is decidedly lighter than say a Peter or Omega. You could say it’s ‘clear’ soup style pork noodles, and no/leas lard and entrails.

The pan mee was ok at 6/10 but something of a go to hawker dish for my daughter.
The chicken rice was definitely KL style, and weighs in at a comforting 6.5/10 (consistent for the past few decades).

Good options for a light, quick lunch. The office crowd throng the place and it quietens down by about 1.15 pm.
