Prawn Mee, Street Food, Non-Halal
My classmates were very kind to drive me out to enjoy Air Itam Market Food Court Hokkien (Prawn) Mee this morning. This stall is run by a Std One schoolmate from La Salle. As usual we requested for ‘keh liaw” of pork ribs and pork trotters and we were surprised by the extra treat of ‘hoon cheong’ I can only describe the tender well cooked meats as FOBMIM – fall off bones melt in mouth!
Opens only Fri ,Sat, Sun. Chee Aun’s stall is across from EhKow Laksa inside the humble food court. Don’t go late, usually sell out by 9.30am due to their huge following of locals.
Chee Aun’s hokkien prawn mee is old school. Nice balance of prawn, pork and chillies in the soup. For hokkien prawn mee everything depends on the soup base.
Forget those fancy tourist-drawing ( and often arrogant) Penang Hokkien Mee stalls in town. Come to Air Itam. This is the real deal.
Stall Business Hours
Friday to Sunday
07:00 am to 09:30 am
