Seafood Noodles, Pork-Free
As we were walking along Jalan Tun Mohd Stephens, I noticed Fatt Kee The Shore and decided to take a look at their menu. Sabah is well-known for their seafood and with Fatt Kee being located right in front of the Sabah Fish Marketing pier in KK, Jen and I decided to stop here for a meal.
Their Tomyam Curry Fish Noodles (RM32) delivers exactly what one would expect from a premium bowl of noodles—fresh, high-quality seafood in a flavour-packed broth. I had prawns added (RM10) because you can't not have prawns in KK.
The first thing that stands out is the prawns, which are undeniably fresh, plump, and brimming with sweetness. The fish items like the fish ball and fish maw absorbed the depth of the curry-laden tomyam broth. The soup itself is a fusion of rich, a light curry and tanginess of tomyam, creating a satisfying spoonful that kept us going back for more. It has just the right balance of spice and creaminess without overwhelming the seafood’s natural sweetness.
Fish Skin
We opted for wantan mee as the noodle choice, and it turned out to be an excellent pairing. The springy texture of the noodles provided a nice contrast to the broth, soaking up just enough of the soup without turning soggy. And I liked how they cooked it too, keeping it al-dente. The variety of noodle options is a plus, allowing diners to customise their bowl according to preference.
At RM42, it’s definitely on the pricier end, but the quality of the seafood and the tasty flavours justified the price. Also take note, it's a rather big bowl.
