Chiefeater Jaimy Yee had a local dessert break of Ais Kajang and Cendol at the Famous Street Food Chai Leng Park
Japanese, Pork-Free
Since 2017, The Tokyo Restaurant at Isetan KL has been a stalwart in Kuala Lumpur’s dining scene, consistently delivering quality food in an inviting setting. Despite its reputation, this was my first visit. Long overdue, but certainly worthwhile.
Our meal began with two mains, each accompanied by a soup.
Jen opted for the Smoked Chicken Carbonara (RM40), a creamy and well-balanced dish where the smokiness of the chicken added depth to the rich sauce.
Meanwhile, I had the Wagyu Beef Curry (RM35), a comforting plate of Japanese-style curry. The beef was tender, soaking up the mild curry. I can't say it was a standout but it was competent.
To complete the meal, we shared a Tiramisu (RM20), which proved to be an excellent choice. Light yet indulgent, it delivered the perfect balance of espresso-soaked sponge and mascarpone, making for a satisfying conclusion to the meal.
The environment was pleasant, adding to the experience. It’s easy to see why The Tokyo Restaurant has remained a favourite. If I come back here, it won't be for the wagyu curry. It would be for the cake and the environment.
