Skinny Dip Puchong is another newly opened cafe in Puchong. This is their second outlet. Their first opened in Kepong.
Our orders were the following.
1. Grilled Lemongrass Marinated Chicken Thigh With A Side Of Pesto-Cranberry Fried Rice & Pan-Grilled Vegetables (RM25)
2. Carbonara Schnitzel (RM22) which is described this way. Indulge in a decadent dish of creamy fettuccine, paired with succulent grilled chicken ham and topped with savoury parmesan strips. For an added crunch, enjoy crispy chicken schnitzels on the side.
3. Skinny Dip Nyonya Fried Rice / Asam Laksa Rice (RM20). This is what they say. Experience the bold and unique flavours of our Asam Laksa infused fried rice. Made with plump prawns, tangy bunga kantan, and our homemade Asam paste, this dish is sure to tantalize your taste buds. Our own twist on a traditional
favourite, it's a meal that will transport you to the streets of Southeast Asia with every bite.
They certainly have a lot to say about their dishes in their menu. You would perhaps see this at a fine dining restaurant. It was not expected in a casual dining restaurant. Let’s see if my review is as long as what they wrote.
The Grilled Chicken was well seasoned and nicely grilled. There wasn’t any charring of the chicken. The pan grilled vegetables were tasty. The pesto rice was delicious. I actually finished the rice.
My son had the Carbonara. That is his go to dish when it’s available as it allows for him to compare. He did not like their use of cream to thicken the carbonara. He’s a purist. He likes to have his carbonara made of egg yolks and whites. That said, the dish was well seasoned.
My wife had the Skinny Dip Nyonya Fried Rice. It was amazingly very well fried. It lives up to what is said about being an Asam Laksa infused rice. There was a surprising amount of wok-hei in the fried rice. The favours were strong and bold. We would not have expected this in this setting.
Skinny Dip Puchong deserves a revisit in the future to sample more items. The pricing puts them on a slightly higher tier compared to other cafes in Puchong.
