Beef Noodles, Pork-Free
Now Johor Bahru rarely comes to mind when you think of beef noodle but a recent trip to JB’s Tin & Tin (Cathay) Beef Noodle changed my mind. I was happy to find a good stall serving the kind I like, with a light and peppery broth that is like a mild version of pho broth.
A good mate there says there are a few other coffeeshop stalls that serve good beef noodles at very affordable prices, considering Singapore is within eyeball distance.

RM15 for a big bowl: flavorful chunks of tripe, tendon and random beef parts, springy long rice noodles. The small bowl of dipping sauce was mildly spicy but it had an overpowering ginger flavor. I would have preferred a spicier sauce with more hints of garlic instead.
Note
The Google Maps link points to Tan Kee Cathay Laksa which is in the same restaurant as this beef noodle stall. The restaurant is called Restoran Shang Ji. It’s within walking distance of the KTM station if you’re in need of beef noodles after a trip to Singapore.
