Bagel, Pork-Free
We were on the lookout for a coffee spot when we stumbled upon Founders Cafe along Hutton Lane. A sign outside boldly declared they had the best bagels in town — an irresistible claim, especially for Jen, who has a soft spot for good bagels. So we made a stop to put their bagels to the test.
We ordered a straightforward choice: Bagel with Green Onion Cream Cheese (RM12.50). We always believe that the best way to judge a bagel shop is to start with the basics, and this one arrived looking promising. The spread was generous, the tang of the green onion nicely lifted the cream cheese, and the bagel itself had a pleasant chew — a key marker of a proper bagel.

Jen gave it a solid nod, though she didn’t think it was the best she’s had in Penang. For me, the texture was food and the portioning of the cream cheese was generous.

The coffee, however, didn’t quite match up. I didn’t finish my cup, which says enough.
