Pasta Grove is a neighbourhood Italian offering @ Parksuites(opp Henry park school). It’s a quiet enclave, and the clientele are regulars, residents living upstairs. As such we didn’t have (much) expectations - save that it’s a new place to sample. It was a simple menu - but what caught my eye was the cacio e pepe (one of the most ‘basic’ pastas - meaning the chef can’t ‘hide’). If you’re an Italian chef - this, and the carbonara are prolly 60% of your requisite 100k hours of foundational training. And for Pasta Grove to put this up in their menu - gutsy.
The gazpacho burrata was alright at 6/10
For mains, my daughter went with the cacio e pepe (I’m proud of her palate!) while we tried the nouveau, avant grade.
The caramelised pork belly spaghetti. It was a tad sweet for me 6/10
But the home made spaghetti was superb - bouncy and had a good bite. The scallion oil sauce was also heartening. Think a fancy aglio olio.
The cauliflower was interesting at 6/10.
Overall 6/10 experience at Pasta Grove. Not bad for some comfort Italian grub over a quiet weekend.
