Country Garden Food Court Satti Sorru
Post by Chiefeater Charles Chin
Saw this "new" stall while browsing around the Country Garden Food Court. Thought of giving the satti sorru a try and compare with what I had at another food court recently.
Claypot came with boiling curry on top. Yup - a bit wet, but once I started digging in, it was ok. Not as dry as what I had at another stall. Came with generous chunks of chicken. Decent portion as well. Taste-wise, not as strongly spiced, but enough to whet your appetite. Overall, will give their other items a try next time I come here. I love a good spiced meal.
What is Satti Sorru
Satti Sorru is a one-pot dish made of rice cooked with a variety of spices and vegetables in a clay pot called a chatti. Short-grain rice, like sona masuri or ponni rice, is commonly used to prepare the meal. Before to cooking, the rice is first rinsed and soaked for a brief while. The rice is then boiled in a broth that contains herbs, tomatoes, tamarind paste, beans, peas, and other vegetables.
