Big Breakfast, Coffee, Pastries, Pork-Free
I recently visited the Elephant Resort Cafe located at 1 Utama. I was there early and was looking for a place to have breakfast. The decor of the café was very nice, super "instagrammable", and screamed vacation ambiance all around. As it was opened and the decor was so inviting, I went in to check it out. I must say that I had a mixed experience. On the one hand, the coffee and breakfast options were quite good. On the other hand, the service left much to be desired. The food and drinks were priced at a slightly premium side (along the lines of Antipodean, Yellow Brick Road, etc.).
Starting with the positives, the coffee at Elephant Resort was excellent. They had a good range of options, including americano, lattes, cappuccinos, and flat whites, and I found the quality to be consistently high. I also tried their breakfast menu. They have a range of options including big breakfasts, pastries, sandwiches, and pancakes. The food was well-prepared and delicious, and with decent portion sizes.
The only downside was their service. Despite being a relatively quiet day, I found that the staff was slow and not particularly attentive. Firstly, the female waiter that took my order got the items on my big breakfast wrong - Sunny side-up eggs, and beef sausage instead of chicken. Secondly, when we asked a different waiter if they have a plain croissant, he looked puzzled and asked me to order some random item on the menu. We checked again with him and he didn't know whether they were available. So we asked him to check with the kitchen. He left and he didn't return after that. Luckily, we spoke with (what seems to be the head) waiter who then confirmed that they indeed have the plain croissant and will promptly bring it to us.
Overall, I would say that Elephant Resort Cafe is a decent place to go for a coffee and breakfast, but there is definitely room for improvement in terms of service.
