Chiefeater Chu Boon had kopi, nasi goreng and chicken chop at Luan Fong Legacy, a Butterworth gem

Taiwanese
This Taiwanese-style restaurant and bar aims to offer a complete dining and drinking experience like in the pulse of Taiwan nightlife. No need to fly all the way to Taiwan. As the name suggests, DongQu direct translation to East District is one of the most cosmopolitan part of Taipei, with Taipei City Hall, Taipei City Council and Taipei 101 all located in this district. A flip through the menu, you can see the food offerings are true to Taiwanese style, like Mi Xue Gao 米血糕, Taiwan Sausage 台湾香肠, Fish Tempura 鱼天妇罗, a few to name. Also here to try out their special cocktails with quirky names.

千里之外 (Far Away) – the elaborate concoction . According to the menu, it’s a blend of Roku gin, chrysanthemum tea, plum, calamansi, sweet & sour mix, and citrus.

They’re not a full fledged restaurant but their bites are awesome. Reminiscent of the pub ‘snacks’ I’ve had in Taipei over the years. They call it xiao chao (small stir fry), there – and DongQu has all that vibe. Ultra Taipei chic with gutsy soul food.
Their oyster & scallop rice is a solid 7/10

Definitely worth a repeat. Forget Keong Saik, here comes Telok Ayer Street. The sheer number of electrifying joints popping up here is encouraging.
