Back at Athens- at the Plaka area – we sought food after an evening stroll. We found ERGON House Athens – in what seemed like a crossover between Harrods Food Hall, Whole Foods and Flatiron Italy in New York.
Again, 100% locals here dining. The winter sonata certainly whetted our appetites so went ‘big’ with the octopus, the pancetta and pork steak.
The rocket salad was most discerning as it was lined with goat cheese! Pungent to say the least – but also full of character at 7/10

The smoked sardines was good but not for everyone. It’s a cold dish but a strong 7/10 for me.

The fried cheese dish was the clincher. This was 7/10. Crunchy on the outside, gooey on the inside – an attack on the senses. In a good way.

The octopus grilled was good as presumed; but the fava beans polenta base was the coup d’état for me. 7.5/10

ERGON House Athens has a formidable wine list as well- and a great place to pick your meat/seafood of the day and have them cook it any way you want! Not to be missed while in Athens!
