Indonesian, Chicken Rice
I recently discovered a solid food delivery deal from The Lunch Box, operating out of Taman Subang, which is actually a sub-brand of Nale. They were running a compelling buy 1 free 1 promotion, further sweetened by an additional RM7 discount for spending over RM50. My total for four substantial items came to just RM45.40, providing enough food to last through two full meals.

The meal featured two different Indonesian style chicken preparations that were the clear highlights. The Bali Grilled Chicken Rice with Lekor offered a succulent, well-grilled bird, which paired excellently with their rich gulai. The lekor was a bit soggy but it did not detract the quality of the meal.

I also saved the Sambal Grilled Chicken Chop Rice for the following day. Even after being thawed from the freezer, the chicken retained a good texture and the sambal provided a robust, spicy kick that tied the dish together.
Just out of the freezer

After being thawed and reheated in the microwave, it’s still good.

For sides, the special curry puffs were the standout. Jen noted they were excellent, likely due to a crisp, flaky pastry and a well-seasoned filling. On the other hand, the Thai Fried Rice was a bit of a letdown—it was described as “meh,” lacking the expected aromatics or depth of flavor found in the other dishes.
The value was the driving factor for this delivery order:
Bali Grilled Chicken Rice + Lekor: RM12.45 (through the 50% offer)
Sambal Grilled Chicken Chop Rice: RM10.95 (through the 50% offer)
Special Curry Puff (2 pcs): RM7.90
Thai Fried Rice: RM16.90
Delivery Fee: RM4.20
Total Bill: RM45.40 (after RM7 discount) for a meal essentially for 3 pax is very good value
Score: 8.1/10
M – Meal Value
At approximately RM11.35 per main item inclusive of delivery, this is phenomenal value. The buy 1 free 1 deal combined with stackable discounts makes this a top-tier delivery choice for budget-conscious diners. And the quality of the meal is definitely not budget.
Score: 9.2/10
V – Vroom Factor
The packaging was functional, keeping the various components secure for transport and it arrived fairly quickly too at just RM4.20
Score: 7.0/10
X – X-Factor
The ability for the grilled chicken to hold its quality even after freezing and reheating is impressive. It’s reliable comfort food delivered right to the doorstep.
Score: 8.0/10
