Chiefeater VK and Jen queued up for the Grumpy Bagels 1905, uncovering an intriguing textural found within their toasted bagels

Hong Kong, French Toast
I recently had lunch at Gong Luck Cafe at Sunway Square (Jan 2026). The cafe offers a casual setting for familiar comfort foods within Subang’s newest lifestyle mall.

I ordered the fried noodles with beef (RM20.90), which turned out to be a solid choice. The dish arrived with a lovely aroma and was generally tasty, though the beef itself could have been a bit more tender.

The highlight of the meal was the french toast with peanut butter and honey. It featured a delightful contrast of a crisp exterior and a fluffy interior. Watching the butter melt over the top when it arrived was a lovely sight.

During the visit, the proprietor, Yvonne, recommended trying their HK milk tea on a future visit.
Fried Noodles with Beef – RM20.80
French Toast with Honey – RM10.80
Subtotal – RM28.80
Total Bill – RM28.80
Score: 7.6 / 10
M – Meal Value
The pricing is competitive for a mall-based cafe. At under RM30 for a flavorful main and a well-executed dessert, it provides good value for a casual lunch in Sunway Square.
Score: 7.5/10
V – Venue & Vibes
Located on Level 1, the cafe offers a convenient and unpretentious environment. It is a suitable spot for a quick meal or a relaxed break during a day of shopping.
Score: 7.5/10
X – X-Factor
The french toast is the definitive standout. Its perfect textural balance and classic presentation make it a “winner” that warrants a return visit.
Score: 7.8/10
