Chicken Rice
Lunch at Ong Ong Chicken Rice in Taman OUG provided a largely pleasant experience. Located on Jalan Awan Hijau, this establishment specializes in traditional steamed chicken and various signature side dishes.

The meal featured half a kampung chicken, which delivered a good flavor and satisfied expectations. The texture had bite without being too hard which plagues the preparation of some of the kampung chicken I have had before.

The Signature Ipoh Taugeh (was another highlight, noted for its crunchy and lovely texture.

Braised Egg was good.

However, the most impressive item was the Chicken Liver & Gizzard, which emerged as the best part of the lunch.

On the other hand, the Roasted Pork was a disappointment; the rind lacked the necessary crunch, making it an item to skip on future visits.

Their signature iced kopi packs a wallop. Too strong for my liking.

Half Kampung Chicken: RM48.00
Roasted Pork (1 pax): RM13.00
Signature Ipoh Taugeh (L): RM12.00
Chicken Liver & Gizzard: RM5.00
Braised Egg: RM2.80
Small Rice (3x): RM6.00 (RM2.00 each)
Ambra Sour Plum Juice (Cold): RM5.00
Ong Ong Signature Coffee (Cold): RM5.20
Chinese Tea (Hot): RM1.00
Total inclusive of drinks, service charges and tax was RM103.90 for 3 pax. That makes it average at under RM35 per pax.
Score: 7.6/10
M – Meal Value
At less than RM35 per person for our group of three, the pricing is fair for a good chicken rice meal in OUG. While the roast pork missed the mark, the quality of the kampung chicken and the generous portion of “mixed parts” provide solid value.
Score: 7.2/10
V – Venue & Vibes
The restaurant offers a bright, clean, and modern air-conditioned take on the traditional chicken rice shop. Located on a busy street in Taman OUG, it maintains a lively yet comfortable neighborhood vibe that is perfect for a casual lunch.
Score: 7.8/10
X – X-Factor
The X-factor is the exceptional quality of the mixed parts and the crunchy Ipoh taugeh. These sides elevate the experience beyond a standard chicken rice meal, showcasing a level of care in the traditional accompaniments that makes it stand out from its competitors.
Score: 7.8/10
