Chicken Rice
The Hainanese Chicken Rice at Canton Boy SS15 Courtyard was actually very good. The Roast Chicken was a particular standout, as it remained impressively crispy throughout the entire meal.
I was also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Dim Sum. For a chain restaurant, the attention to detail in the food preparation is impressive. The Crystal Har Gow and Siu Mai King are often noted by patrons for their fresh, handmade quality, which avoids the “frozen shortcut” taste common in many mall-based eateries.
Roast Chicken: RM28.80
Steamed Chicken: RM28.80
Crystal Har Gow (3 pcs): RM11.80
Siu Mai King (3 pcs): RM10.80
Average Spend: RM30.00 – RM50.00 per pax
Score: 8.2/10
M – Meal Value
Despite being a mall-based chain, the pricing is justified by the quality of ingredients and the fact that the dim sum is handmade fresh daily rather than mass-produced. The consistency of the roast chicken adds significant value to a standard lunch.
Score: 8.0/10
V – Venue & Vibes
The Subang Courtyard outlet maintains the brand’s signature clean, bright, and modern aesthetic. It provides a comfortable and spacious environment that is equally suitable for family gatherings or business lunches.
Score: 8.0/10
X – X-Factor
The X-factor is the execution of the Roast Chicken skin. Maintaining a persistent crispiness in a high-volume chain environment is a mark of superior kitchen discipline. Additionally, their success in bridging the gap between authentic Cantonese technique and strict halal certification is a major draw.
Score: 8.5/10
