Japanese, Yakiniku
We targeted the specialized A5 Japanese Wagyu platter at Ichigo-E Yakiniku Puchong, which presents three distinct cuts showcasing vastly different structural textures. The service staff suggested cooking them sequentially from the fattiest, most melt-in-the-mouth cut down to the chewiest.

On reflection, reversing that order entirely would have yielded a better progression, saving the absolute finest, most decadent bite for the grand finale rather than peaking too early.

Accompanying the beef were thick slices of fresh pumpkin, which proved to be an excellent, naturally sweet complement that neatly cut through the intense, rich oiliness of the marbled fat.

A notable point of contention remains the kitchen’s restraint with the accompanying banchan. Given the premium investment required for a top-tier A5 Wagyu platter, the house really should be far more generous with its side dishes rather than treating them with such strict minimalism.

AS Wagyu Mix Three Platter(300g): RM320.00

Total Sales (with service charge and SST): RM 380.50

MVX Score: 7.5/10
M – Meal Value
While paying a premium for authentic A5 Japanese Wagyu is par for the course, the experience feels slightly dampened by the sparse portions of complimentary sides. The quality of the meat preserves high baseline utility, but better hospitality on the accompaniments would elevate the value.

V – Venue & Vibes
The layout is functional, casual, and typical of a neighborhood yakiniku parlor. It operates efficiently with comfortable booth seating and highly responsive, active exhaust systems that ensure an enjoyable, low-fuss DIY grilling session.
Score: 7.5/10
X – X-Factor
The X-factor is the distinct textural diversity within the single platter. Being able to compare three independent marbling structures side-by-side alongside the sweetness of the grilled pumpkin delivers a great educational element for beef enthusiasts.
