Difina Ent Laksa P’neng Bt.9 Fried Bananas

Post by Chiefeater RQ

Another weekend, another long day riding to the coast, and this time I decided to visit the southern stretch of Port Dickson near the Melaka border. A sprawling roadside stall called Difina Ent Laksa P'neng is my usual refreshment stop after a morning swimming at the Tanjung Tuan nature reserve or watching raptors do their annual migration from the lighthouse at the top. Those eagles and hawks can fly nonstop for hundreds of kilometers on currents of hot air.

Difina Ent Laksa

Me, I prefer relaxing in the shade with a freezing-cold coconut shake (RM3). The coconut here is fresh and a welcome liquid respite from the searing seaside heat. They also have mango shakes, a scoop of cheap ice cream on top is extra.

There's nothing like a big plate of crispy, oily snacks after a long and steep climb to the Tanjung Tuan lighthouse and back down. The fried bananas or goreng pisang are small, yet very sweet and crispy (RM1 for 4 pieces). The fried tofu halves (RM0.50 each) are chunky and fresh while the eggrolls (RM0.50 each) have a crunchy skin but the insides are slightly soggy.

They also serve laksa and curry noodles but I found them to be just average on previous visits. I'd rather not stuff my face full of rice or noodles and fall asleep on the long motorcycle ride home. For me, it's all about the unhealthy fried snacks done right at a very reasonable price. Note that this place can get full in the late afternoon during tea time.

Port Dickson sights

If you're interested in historic places and nature, Port Dickson is a great destination to visit. You can explore the Cape Rachado (Tanjung Tuan) lighthouse, which dates back to the 16th century and offers a panoramic view of the Strait of Malacca. You can also enjoy the secluded beach and the dipterocarp forest at Tanjung Tuan Recreational Forest, where you might spot some dusky leaf monkeys.

For some fun and educational activities, you can visit the PD Ostrich Show Farm, where you can ride an ostrich and try their ostrich satay. You can also check out the Sky Ladder Pineapple Farm, where you can learn about pineapple cultivation and taste some fresh fruits.

Port Dickson also has some beautiful temples, such as the Wan Loong Chinese Temple and the Sri Anjaneyar Alayam Temple, where you can admire the architecture and experience different cultures. If you're looking for a relaxing way to end the day, you can visit the many beaches there in the evening and enjoy scenic sunset views.
