Lunch at Seminyak by Warung Eropa in Sunway Pyramid turned out to be an enjoyable one, especially if you like a meal that comes with a bit of character. I had their Mixed Platter together with a plate of Terong Sambal Petai, which was an interesting pairing on paper and one that made the meal feel a little different.

The Mixed Platter was the stronger part of the lunch. It gave enough variety to keep the meal interesting, and one component, the cering, in particular stood out because it was something I had never had before. I liked the chewy texture of it, which gave the platter a bit more personality than if everything had just leaned soft or straightforward.

The eggplant with petai was the other point of curiosity. It is not the sort of combination everyone would order straight away, but it worked as a more unusual side to go with the platter.

One thing worth highlighting is the condiments. They were really spicy. Not just mildly lively, but the sort that can catch you off guard if you go in too casually. If you enjoy heat, that will probably be part of the fun. If you are more cautious with spice, it is better to know that upfront.

Kintamani Sunrise drink.

Overall, Seminyak made for a good lunch stop in Sunway Pyramid. The platter was enjoyable, the unusual textures helped the meal stand out, and the spice level on the condiments gave the experience an extra kick. Be careful if you are not used to this level of heat.

V – Venue & Vibes
As a lunch stop in Sunway Pyramid, Seminyak feels suited for a casual sit-down meal with a bit more flair than the average quick mall option.

X – X-Factor
The X-factor was the combination of the mixed platter’s chewy standout item and the very spicy condiments that gave the meal a stronger identity.
