Japanese
Let’s be real. When most of us think Japanese curry, we picture thick brown gravy over rice. Comforting, yes, but pretty predictable. That’s why Soup Curry by Ki-setsu caught my attention. They’re bringing traditional Hokkaido-style soup curry to Fortune Centre, and this one is completely different: lighter, broth-like, aromatic and made for drinking by the spoonful.
The broth is cooked for more than six hours and served with rice and flash-fried seasonal vegetables. It sounds familiar enough to be comforting, yet different enough to make you wonder why this style of curry hasn’t become bigger in Singapore already?
For anyone curious about a taste of Hokkaido in Singapore, this is one to watch.
Soup curry also has a surprisingly interesting story behind it. It grew out of Sapporo before becoming part of Hokkaido’s food culture, and you can read more about its history.
Soup Curry by Ki-setsu officially opens on 8 October 2026 at Level 4 of Fortune Centre. But if October feels a little far away, here’s the good news: the soft launch starts from 7 September onwards, so there’ll be a chance to get an earlier taste before the official opening.
Will Singapore fall for soup curry? I have a feeling this bowl might surprise a few people.
