The Roast Meat Shop Sunway Hakka Mee with Roast Pork

Hakka Mee, Roast Pork

Description

Post by Chiefeater VK

The Hakka Mee with Roast Pork at The Roast Meat Shop Sunway Geo turned out to be a pretty satisfying combination, especially if roast pork is what brought you here in the first place.

The Hakka noodles were the part I liked immediately. They had a good firm texture with enough bite to keep them from becoming soft or stodgy, while the seasoning was savoury without overwhelming the noodles. Minced pork scattered over the top added another layer of flavour and made what could have been a fairly simple plate of noodles much more substantial.

Then there was the roast pork.

This is one of the things The Roast Meat Shop is known for, and you certainly get a generous-looking portion alongside the noodles. The pork itself had a robust savoury flavour, with a good balance between the meat and fat.

The crackling is likely to divide people according to personal preference. Here, the skin has a very puffed, blistered crackling, with large, pronounced bubbles giving it a more aerated and craggy crunch.

I can see why people would like it. Personally, I prefer my roast pork skin flatter and more tightly crackled, with smaller blisters and a brittle crunch rather than this more puffed style. That is very much a matter of preference rather than the skin not being crispy.

One thing I think most will concur is that the taste of their roast pork is certainly not understated.

Taken together, though, the Hakka noodles and roast pork worked well. If your preferred siu yuk is the heavily blistered kind, The Roast Meat Shop may be even more appealing to you than it was to me.

Score: 8.0/10

V – Venue
A straightforward, air-conditioned restaurant setting inside Sunway Geo Avenue. Comfortable enough for a quick lunch or dinner, although the food rather than the surroundings is the reason to come.

The roast pork is their calling card. Its dramatically puffed and blistered crackling will especially appeal to people who like their siu yuk skin with a more aerated crunch.
