Chiefeater VK had a serendipitous find when he ordered a meal from Nanyang Sand Ginger Steam Chicken via food delivery

Porridge, Fried Wantan, Non-Halal
I wasn’t feeling well a few weeks back and was running a fever. So I thought, I should have porridge for dinner. Searching for porridge on GrabFood yielded Yee Kee Porridge which was nearby. That meant that I didn’t have to pay much for delivery and not have to wait too long.
It wasn’t hard for me to decide ordering a Salted Egg Porridge (RM12.79) topped with a side of Fried Intestines (RM8.30) I added an order of fried bread stick or youtiau (RM4.51) and also a side order of dried tangerine peel fried wantan (RM15). With all that food, you must be wondering if I was really sick. I was! That’s why I needed all this to comfort me. Salted Egg is good to diffuse the heatiness in the body, so goes the old remedy.

The Porridge arrived shortly after I ordered it. I liked how the porridge had a thick consistency and it remained throughout the meal. Some porridge lose their cohesiveness and starts to water down as you eat it. The porridge was well seasoned and even though my taste buds were bland, I still could taste it. The fried intestines were fully packed with flavour and maintained its crunch. The youtiau was not great but still a fitting complement to the porridge.
I ordered the wantan because it said dried tangerine peel and I wanted to find out what that tasted like. It was an interesting “Kum” taste, a tinge of bitterness to the wantan skin which made this an interesting dish. I think it would have gone well with an oyster based wantan mee. Strangely, Yee Kee Porridge does not sell wantan mee to go with this.

Well, if you are feeling under the weather or even if you are not, I think the porridge here is still going to make you happy.
