Bak Kut Teh, Non-Halal
I don’t often have Bak Kut Teh. It is a double confirm weight gain dish for me. But it was a cold and wet night and it was my cheat day, so …… WHACK lah! Ma Tou Bak Kut Teh occupies a lot in Bandar Puteri Puchong that has gone through the change of many hands despite its seemingly good location.
Thankfully for them, they seem to have been able to hold out and done alright. First off, let me state that I don’t eat enough Bak Kut Teh to be able to tell you what is good or what is bad. I can however rate on my own preferences which leans to food with flavour (usually that means fat) and meats that are tender and succulent with enough bite that it is not mushy.
The meat was fresh and the soup had a decent flavour in it. However, the soup was not aromatic and did not have the customary smell that you would expect of a good herbal bowl of Bak Kut Teh soup. We had the following items - 2 servings of BKT Mixed Meat, 1 serving of Pork Leg, 2 servings of You Tiao, 1 serving of Enoki mushroom, 3 bowls of rice - all for RM77.90.
Ma Tou Bak Kut Teh is one of the more comfortable and clean places to have BKT in Puchong. If that is what you are looking, then this is the place that you should head to in Puchong.
