Ara Damansara’s café architecture continues to evolve in fascinating directions, and BiJOU Cafe stands out as a visually arresting marvel. Flooded with natural morning sunlight through its high, expansive glass roofing, the space features a striking warehouse-style layout complete with vibrant loft graffiti and a sleek spiral staircase. It is an inspiring backdrop for a morning pitstop, where the environment prepares you for a thoughtful culinary session.

I settled in with their Big Brekkie, a generously portioned platter that hits the table at RM28.00. When it arrived, the scrambled eggs initially raised a minor flag—they lacked that glossy, perfectly uniform restaurant aesthetic and didn’t look particularly great.

However, the first forkful proved that appearances can be deceiving; they were seasoned well and tasted perfectly alright. The real protein highlight of the plate was the beef bacon, which carried a deep, smoky cure and avoided the brittle dryness that so often ruins café versions.

The pleasant surprises extended into the liquid refreshments. The Flat White was a technically precise pour, boasting a smooth, velvet microfoam and a well-balanced bean profile that avoided any harsh bitterness. It turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable cup, capping off a solid morning assembly where execution ultimately won over visual presentation.
