Big Breakfast, Coffee, Pastries, Pork-Free
I’m a lazy food reviewer so I stick to places near my usual travel routes or close to home. I decided to check out Boink Bakery after seeing it on a map app. Located on an inside lane facing the supermarket at Rio in Bandar Puteri, Puchong, Boink Bakery is a cozy and quiet neighborhood café with surprisingly good pastries and breads.
Breakfast starts at 10 am so it should be more like brunch for all the early risers out there. There are two breakfast sets: one with scrambled eggs on a croissant (RM15.90) and the other is a big breakfast with scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, turkey ham and sauteed mushrooms (RM23.90). Both come with a choice of coffee and the strong Americano suited my palate. I prefer the croissant option because it leaves room for lunch. The scrambled eggs are fluffy and rich, with more than a hint of butter, while the croissant is flaky and buttery.

There’s also a takeaway bread set with a combination of bread rolls, herb focaccia and ciabatta. I liked the strong flavors and springiness of the focaccia and the crunchy crust on the ciabatta, whereas the bread rolls were plain. Thumbs up to the moist and dense banana bread; the flavored almond and raisin croissants were rather dry.
Boink Bakery is pretty quiet on weekday mornings in case you want to combine breakfast with some keyboard time. There are two outdoor tables and a combination of round tables with regular chairs and high bench tables inside.
