Chicken Chop, Chicken Rice, Pork-Free
A drive to Port Klang took us to Choon Guan Hainan Coffee 1956. As the name suggests, they have been around since 1956 and offer traditional Hainanese kopitiam favourites like kopi, chicken rice and chicken chop.

We ordered the Chicken Chop (RM21.90) and the Hainanese Chicken Rice (RM13.80).
The Chicken Chop was a fried piece of chicken doused with a brown sauce that came with lots of peas and even more fries. While it did look visually appealing, I found the chicken meat to be dry and rubbery. It felt like it had been over-cooked. The seasoning was good but let down by the over zealous frying.

Thankfully, the Chicken Rice at Choon Guan Hainan Coffee 1956 was excellent. The rice was firm and fragrant. Every grain, clearly separated from each other. They use kampung chicken to make the chicken rice. The chicken was tender & full of flavour. Looking at the picture, you can still see the moisture in it. It made the drive to Port Klang worth it.

PSA - Parking is limited in this area as the coffee shop is located directly opposite the market. So pick your times to come here. I figure that mornings on weekends are going to be bad.
