June Canteen Lunch
Street Food
- Under RM20 per pax
Chiefeater Kane Chong had a variety of street food for lunch at June Canteen in Taman Maluri

Chinese
We ordered an extensive spread of dishes at Chef Chew Kitchen, including fish, prawns, chicken, pork, squid, tofu, and vegetable sides.

Salt & Pepper Squid

Braised Fish Maw with “Seng kwa” with Beancurd

Claypot Pork Rib

Australia Perch with Lime Sauce

Kai Lan with Black Fungus. We also had a Cabbage Stir Fry which is not pictured

Every plate arrived well-executed, but the true highlights belonged to the curry prawns and the chicken rice. The curry prawns were exceptional—bathed in a rich, velvety, aromatic gravy that delivered a deeply satisfying coconut-milk depth laced with a gentle kick of spice.

The chicken rice was equally superb; the poached chicken was clean, tender, and beautifully glossy, paired with a perfectly seasoned, fragrant pot of rice topped with savory minced meat patties. From the sharp tang of the steamed lime-and-chili fish to the satisfying crunch of the salt-and-pepper squid, the culinary standards remained consistently high across the board.

Beyond the quality of the food, the most amazing aspect of the entire evening was the phenomenal affordability. 8 dishes of this scale in PJ usually commands a premium. Yet, Chef Chew manages to deliver top-tier culinary refinement at numbers that offer extraordinary value, making it an absolute standout for utility-driven family dining.

V – Venue & Vibes
The venue captures a vibrant, bustling Chinese restaurant atmosphere. It is clean, organized, well-cooled, and structured with classic large round tables, making it highly comfortable for celebratory group dynamic gatherings.

X – X-Factor
The X-factor is the **extraordinary price-to-quality ratio for specialty dishes**. Finding an establishment that balances intricate executions like the claypot chicken rice and a premium seafood spread without a massive price markup delivers rare artisan satisfaction.
