Koay Teow Th'ng, Street Food, Non-Halal
The last of its kind – traditional koay teow th’ng which comes with pig’s offal: soft strips of pig’s large intestines (“toa huan”), small intestines (“hoon cheong”), pig’s stomach (“too tor”), pig’s blood pudding cubes (“too huek”), plus a selection of minced pork balls, fish-balls, etc. (Found at Eng Sin Cafe)

Koay teow th’ng-man, Tee Ah Huat, is a true-blue Teochew nang, like all good koay teow th’ng hawkers tend to be. He has been selling this for the last 3 decades, and only opens Tue, Thu and Sat, from 6.30 am till he sells out, usually by 9 am.

Penang used to have a few of these places that offer the more laborious preparation of koay teow th’ng. Now, only the three simpler types remain: duck broth-based, chicken broth-based, and pork-based.

Tee Ah Huat’s elaborate version here at Eng Sin Cafe, near the intersection of Perak Road and Van Praagh Road, is the last of its kind.
