Western
I was looking for a place that served pork and found that Fatty Daddiez Kota Kinabalu was not too far from my hotel.

I went straight for the Porky Platter, the kind of dish that usually says everything you need to know about a place that specialises in meat. What arrived looked good: thick cuts of roasted pork, grilled pork belly, and house sauces served on a wooden board.

The pork ribs itself was alright but did not really stand out.

The roast pork’s skin was not crispy at all.

The roulade had too much fat. While you get variety, but the expression on the plate fell flat.

The house pour wine was where things really derailed. It was an Amaro Cabernet Sauvignon, and let’s just say… I couldn’t finish it. Definitely not something I’d recommend pairing with pork, or anything.
If I were to go there again, maybe it’s because they serve Guinness.
Porky Platter – RM78
Glass of wine – RM38
Score: 6.0 / 10
Meal Value (M): 6.0 / 10
Generous portion, decent price-to-volume ratio, but uneven execution.
Vibe & Venue (V): 7.0 / 10
Nice looking space. Cosy, family-friendly, warmly lit, has a nice chill.
X-Factor (X): 5.0 / 10
The platter looks great but doesn’t wow on taste. The house wine… negative X-factor.
