Hakka
I was hankeing for some Hakka classics and saw that Hakka Rang USJ was an option that I could order from. So I had the following dishes – Yam Abacus, Hakka Stewed Pork with Black Fungus Rice and Pig Trotter with Black Vinegar

The broth of the Pig Trotter with Black Vinegar was too mild and the vinegar profile too gentle. I personally prefer a sharper, more aromatic “zing” when ordering black vinegar trotters. The meat was also softer than expected, sliding into stewy mushiness.

Stewed Pork with Black Fungus Ate was too soft for my liking. The pork and fungus both had a mushy consistency, losing the textural contrast that usually defines this dish. Flavour-wise it was pleasant, but texture overshadowed it.

This was easily the standout among the items I ordered. Nice chewy texture, with a bounce that yam abacus should have, with enough aroma from the sautéed mince and vegetables. It held up surprisingly well even after delivery, retaining its shape and bite.

Pig Trotter with Black Vinegar – RM26.90
Hakka Stewed Pork with Black Fungus Rice – RM22.90
Yam Abacus – RM25.90
Score: 7.63 / 10
M – Meal Value (7.6/10)
Yam Abacus was excellent, but the other two dishes underdelivered in texture. Portions were fair for the price.
V – Vibe & Venue (Delivery Experience) (7.8/10)
Food arrived warm and well-packed. Packaging kept the yam abacus intact, though the stews naturally spilled into very soft consistency.
X – X-Factor (7.5/10)
The Yam Abacus alone lifted the experience. It’s the dish that justifies the order.
