Mee Pok
I ordered the Mee Pok and Fried Chicken from Happy Fellow Puchong for lunch. The noodles came in a generous portion of noodles with minced meat, fried shallots, and bright-red char siew slices.

The portion of noodles was generous and well-tossed, though the flavours leaned on the milder side. I would have liked the noodles to be the firmer but most people should be ok with the texture. The minced meat was too finely diced for my liking though the shallots gave a nice fragrance. The char siew — the red-coloured variety — wasn’t quite my thing either. It lacked the caramelised edge that makes a good char siew shine.

I am glad I topped the bowl with extra lard to give it the extra flavour it needed.

The fried chicken, while crisp on the outside, leaned a little dry inside.
