Chiefeater Khor Hui Min and her family had a delicious and affordable lunch at Highlands Spice Cameron Highlands

I was intrigued by Haus 7 when I first saw Chiefeater Eugene’s review on the place a while back. I went there on a Monday morning aiming to try their breakfast set. That was when I found they were closed on Mondays.
Such is life. A few days later, I tried again and found myself the only diner there in the early morning, just after their opening time at 9 am. The ambience and surroundings are unique for the area: Haus 7 is a cafe in an old house next to the road, with parking areas on both sides. I opted for the gated grassy lot on the right instead of the dirt lot on a small hill.

I chose the eggs on toast breakfast set (RM18) with an included cup of Americano at Haus 7. It’s a generous offering that felt more like brunch to me. The scrambled eggs are soft and silky, overlaid on top of a generous helping of sauteed mushrooms on a slice of sourdough toast. A sprinkling of seaweed flakes and cayenne powder on top gave the dish a tinge of spicy and umami flavors. The coffee was nice and strong.
Service was friendly and I managed to get in some peaceful laptop time with the morning sun streaming in. This could be a good venue for a morning breakfast meeting too.
