Roti Bakar, Kopi, Pork-Free
I ordered a toast bread (RM2.80) because I saw the kid at the next table enjoying it so much. And I am glad I was not disappointed. The thick-cut, Hainan-style loaf—lightly toasted with a texture that balanced chew and crunch. Yet it was surprisingly moist inside.
It’s rare for a toasted bread to retain that inner softness without becoming soggy. The spread of kaya and margarine could have been a touch more generous, but it didn’t take away my enjoyment of it.
The kopi was decent, providing a bitter-sweet anchor to the meal.
Ho Ping Kopitiam offers a quietly enjoyable experience starting at 6 am, especially if you’re looking for a simple delight like a toast bread and a cup of kopi. Oh be warned, the environment is quite hot. Sit near the fridge so you get a gush of cool air when they open it.
